About Perplexia Pictures

Perplexia pictures boasts some real experts in the family and kids media space, Angus Fletcher was President of Jim Henson Television for some years and has worked all over the world as executive producer, producer, writer, editor and director with some of the key players and companies in this arena. In partnership with Ronald Henry who not only set up and ran South Africa’s largest motion capture studio,

The Flying Circus, but has written and produced many hours of kids and family productions alongside a wealth of live-action post-production experience and expertise.

Alongside the two owners of Perplexia Pictures, sit Daniel Buckland, a talented writer, director and performer and Marise Kruger as the strong head of production. In addition, the company is also fortunate to be able to utilise the writing and consulting services of the very experienced UK writer and director, Dan Berlinka.

Much thought has gone into the Perplexia approach, which is based on a combination of many years’ experience of the global media business and solid practical production experience. The company structure focuses entirely on idea and story from initial creation through all the stages of development, pre- production, production, post-production and delivery. Perplexia works with experts in their fields but is uniquely in control of the creative production at every step of the journey from idea to screen. This enables not only a clear articulation and realisation of a vision, but ensures a very tight business and financial control over all aspects of the Perplexia world.

Cindy, a working class fifteen year old girl manages to secure herself a position as a stable hand at a local upper class riding school, a fact she must keep secret from her mother who hates riding and anything horse related. Cindy is thrust into the vibrant world of a riding school preparing for the visit of a renowned talent scout, where she must navigate the turbulent relationship with Beth, the daughter of the head of the riding school all the while uncovering the secret of Wish, the ominous and forbidden stallion stabled at the school.

Four sheltered and privileged teenage girls are sent on a jungle safari camp that almost none of them wants to be on. Caroline feels hanging out with her friends and sipping virgin daiquiris would be a better use of her time, Maxine would rather be on the hockey field, winning at all costs and Lilly thinks that summer camps are elitist and wants to be in the streets protesting with “the people”. It's only Sophia, the bookish know-it-all, who is deeply excited about the adventure. Unbeknownst to them, the summer camp is a ruse for a kidnapping by two highly inept brothers and the girls must learn to collaborate in their attempts to escape captivity, survive the perils of the jungle and eventually take the fight to their captors.

When Charlie refuses to sell, things escalate and the Coleman’s find themselves fighting for their new found happiness, while Lucy’s younger brother, Josh, has discovered a secret which holds the key to saving everything.
