Today, independent global kids content distributor, Jetpack Distribution announces it has acquired the international distribution rights for four family films: A Horse Called Wish, Camp Getaway, Inspector Sunshine and The House on Seahorse Bay.

These comprise the inaugural slate of movies from start up production company UK-based Perplexia Pictures, founded by industry veterans Angus Fletcher and Ronald Henry.

These include:

  • Andrew Buckland(Catching Feelings, Jane and the Lost City, Dirty Games) who plays Ben in The House on Seahorse Bay.
  • Antony Coleman(Blood Diamond, Gums and Noses, High Rollers) who plays Charlie Coleman in The House on Seahorse Bay and Mr Armitage in A Horse Called Wish.
  • Waldemar Schultz(The Kissing Booth, Troy: Fall of a City; Catch A Fire) who plays Inspector Bassett in Inspector Sunshine and Gary Ryan in The House in Seahorse Bay.

Perplexia Pictures are working with line production partner South Africa and Mauritius based Two Oceans Productions. The movies use a combination of local expertise alongside feature film crews and heads of department from South Africa.

Jetpack Distribution’s CEO, Dominic Gardiner, says: “We are delighted to be making a foray into movies. The global market and demand for family films has increased in recent years and there are some great opportunities. The movies are high quality dramas set in exotic locations with engaging storylines. We are excited to be presenting them at Kidscreen.”

Commenting on the slate, Perplexia Pictures’ founders Angus Fletcher and Ronald Henry add: “We are striving to build a creative business around a theatre company model, comprised of producers, writers and directors united by skill, friendship and the desire to tell terrific stories on film for a family audience. As such Dominic, and his colleagues from Jetpack, fit perfectly with this approach. After a lot of time, effort and love on our first slate of films, we are excited to see how the market responds and looking forward to making our next slate of four films later this year in Mauritius”.
